What are the responsibilities and job description for the Newborn Hearing Screener - Audiology Inpatient - PRN position at Womans Hospital?
The Newborn Hearing Screener is responsible for screening hearing sensitivity of all infants born at the hospital prior to discharge. Administers Otoacoustic Emission (OAE) and Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) screenings and interpretation of the results accurately to caregivers. Completes all applicable paperwork and parent counseling. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to the policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must complete an online course, Newborn Hearing Screener Training Curriculum (NHSTC), and pass an exam to obtain a Certificate of Completion following on the job training.
- Background in speech pathology and audiology is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Implements a comprehensive and timely audiological hearing screening program for infants.
- Identifies patient needs and initiates plan of assessment in a timely manner.
- Monitors calibration of Otacoustic Emission equipment and Auditory Brainstem Response equipment.
- Provides to all newborns OAE evaluations for determination of "integrity of hearing". Provides ABR screenings to all newborns in NICU with length of stay at or greater than 5 days.
- Compiles data and statistical information for program development and accountability records.
- Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

10 - 15 hours per week, some weekends
Pay Range:
Hourly/Non-Exempt
$14.00 - $20.00; based on work experience
