Position Title: Full-Time Hospital Response Advocate
Position Summary: The Hospital Response Advocate provides crisis intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), and human trafficking in hospital settings throughout Butler, Clermont, and Hamilton Counties. This second-shift position responds to and accompanies survivors through Emergency Department visits from 4:00pm—12:00am Wednesday—Sunday and collaborates with community partners to enhance survivor-centered services. Beyond hospital response, this advocate will engage in case documentation, hospital relationship-building, and ongoing professional development to ensure a comprehensive approach to survivor support.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have reliable transportation. Passionate about WHWs mission. Ability to handle confidential information discreetly. Direct service experience in related fields (DV, SA, crisis intervention, or advocacy) preferred.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Hospital Response and Survivor Advocacy:
- Respond to hospital calls for DV/SA survivors, providing emotional support, safety planning, and information about available resources.
- Advocate for survivor needs with medical staff, law enforcement, and other service providers.
- Assist survivors in navigating forensic exams, law enforcement reporting, and the next steps based on their needs and choices.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and assist survivors in understanding their rights and options
- Provide referrals to community partners and information about wrap-around resources offered by the agency (e.g., support groups, court advocacy, relocation).
- Assist in tracking survivor needs and outcomes to improve service delivery.
Administrative and Program Support:
- Maintain accurate records of all hospital response interactions in accordance with agency protocols.
- Document any hospital response challenges to improve collaboration.
- Ensure confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies and ethical standards.
- Participate in ongoing training on trauma-informed advocacy, medical advocacy best practices, and crisis intervention.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Accurately documents and submits mileage, expenses, timesheets, and time off per agency policy.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Stay informed about state and federal policy changes affecting survivors.
- Provide training, support, and evaluation of volunteers, interns, and/or other advocates assigned to this position.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital staff to enhance survivor support.
- Assist with trainings at hospitals, as needed.
- Participate in case consultations and multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
- Promotes teamwork and cohesiveness among all staff and volunteers while maintaining professional relationships. (e.g., speak positively of others, collaborates willingly, takes initiative to help, etc.).
Other Requirements: To facilitate agency effectiveness, may be expected to take on other duties as assigned to support survivors and the organization’s mission.

HOURS: Full Time / 4pm—12am, Wednesday—Sunday
STATUS: Non-exempt
LOCATION: Cincinnati/Northern KY,
CONFIDENTIALITY: May be involved in confidential personnel, and interagency issues. Responsible for client confidentiality.
