About The Role
- Serve as business development manager for our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Sustainability group and Social Enterprise Impact Investing practice to develop and sustain loyal client base for increased work, revenues, and profitability.
- Make recommendations into, create, and implement business development plans.
- Develop depth of knowledge of the industry areas, practices, and specific subject matter expertise of the partners across respective groups to fully own and proactively drive business development opportunities (across all elements of the position from pitches/RFPs, to events, cross-selling and ideas for new avenues of potential business opportunities).
- Conduct research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships, expand the client base, and increase external and internal visibility.
- Oversee the crafting of strategic rankings submissions to raise the competitive profile of the practices.
- Manage targeted marketing methods including social media strategies, blogs, CLE seminars, organizational affiliations, and initiatives.
- Oversee and lead on the development of customized pitches/RFPs, presentations, and marketing materials, including systems and processes to track matters to ensure materials reflect accurate experience.
- Participate fully in the Marketing Department, supporting department-wide initiatives when needed.
- Ensure meticulous execution of all projects and work, with data and content consistently accurate and well presented.
- Attain synergies for all marketing programs through effective collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. At least five years of relevant experience in professional services marketing; law firm experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of ESG issues, and litigation and transactional practices desired, with direct work experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of core marketing principles including driving innovative tools and programs, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch and RFP responses.
- Experience managing and overseeing the work of junior team members to provide clear and concise guidance.
- High degree of motivation, with driving sense of responsibility, accountability, and responsiveness.
- Excellent writing skills. Ability to focus written materials to ensure impact on general business, legal, and niche populations.
- Excellent attention to detail in all areas, including writing, copy editing, researching, and managing data.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.
- Strong business acumen; the ability to recognize marketing and business development opportunities and to pursue them strategically.
- Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions, including ability to draw clear conclusions from a diverse collection of data.
- Talent for creating client satisfaction; demonstrated ability to focus on the client value in all work.
