What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Service Representative 40D position at Women & Infants Hospital?
Job Summary: The Patient Service Representative is responsible for processing patients for office visits and admission, ensuring that the proper medical information and records are obtained. The incumbent gathers and provides information to patients, coordinates patient care and scheduling, assists with financial processing, and provides clerical support to the department. The PSR will be checking patients in and out, working internal and external referrals, answering phones, making appointments for all providers in the department, helping with scheduling patients for labs, diagnostic imaging, testing, etc. helping with prior auths, verifying insurances, and assisting other staff as needed in the department.
Specifications: Associates degree or two years equivalent experience in a health care setting. Must have excellent typing, interpersonal and communications skills. Knowledge of third party payers, medical terminology, word processing, and other computer applications (Lotus 1-2-3) preferred. Must have flexibility to occasionally work additional, unscheduled hours and be proficient in the English language.
