Job Description: Registered Nurse, Ob/Gyn office position
Special Focus: Obstetrical education, interviews, and care
Summary: Within the scope of the RN license, the Registered Nurse’s primary duties include patient intake and assessment, communication of problem list, gathering thorough information regarding the concerns and needs of the patient, preparing appropriate documentation regarding the patient’s conditions, ensuring complete compliance with documentation and reporting requirements, returning patient phone calls in a timely fashion, and monitoring test results to ensure appropriate follow up.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse dedicated to prenatal intake visits, prenatal education, creating OB workflows including screening and testing plans, someone who is diligent in staying up to date with current guidelines and recommendations, and will assist with postpartum check in calls and visits.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Clinical Duties
- Performs the initial Ob prenatal intake/visit; reviews the patient’s Obstetric, Medical and Surgical history and addresses the patient’s concerns.
- Consults with physician/CNM/PA in order to respond to patients’ needs and concerns. Upon instruction of physician/CNM/PA, communicates with patients regarding test results, treatment plan and medications. Executes physician/CNM/PA directives.
- Reviews portal communication from patients and responds accordingly (not currently live)
- Rooms patients (greets patient, escorts patient to the exam room, reviews reason for visit, etc.)
- Performs NST’s; ensures that equipment is working properly
- Obtains specimens and assists in procedures as directed by provider
- Can perform a blood draw, start an IV/infusions, give subcutaneous and intramuscular injections
- Takes vital signs
- Provides complete and accurate information to physician/CNM/PA and other team members
- Communicates with team members appropriately
- Stays calm and composed when difficult situations arise due to patients or workplace team members
- Ask for help when needed
Administrative Tasks
- Ensures that results are available in the electronic health record; follow up to ensure that the results are tasked and responded to in a timely fashion
- Ensures that labs are completed using the appropriate technological resources
- Ensures that other EHR related tasks are completed in a timely fashion
- Contacts insurance carriers for benefit authorizations
- Maintains current personal licensure and completes necessary CEUs.
Operational Tasks
- Attends required meetings and assists with workflow changes
- Complies with downtime procedures
- Other duties as assigned Required background and credentials
Education: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience as a Licensed Registered Nurse preferred, Ob/Gyn experience preferred
Licensure: Valid/current Registered Nurse license in the State of Delaware
