What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Media Specialist position at Women's Business Center of Utah?
Job Summary:
As a Salt Lake Chamber employee, under the direction of the Women’s Business Center
of Utah (WBCUtah) state director, the digital media specialist helps accomplish the
center’s mission to help women build confidence, create opportunities and experience
success in business ownership by managing all aspects of social and digital media promotion and communication, data management and technology for WBCUtah’s two offices (Northern & Southern). The specialist also manages WBCUtah.org, “Women Own It!”podcast, and the Utah Women-Owned Business Directory.
Key Responsibilities
Website & Directory
- Maintain WBCUtah.org website on Squarespace and keep it current through regular content updates, SEO optimization, and technical upkeep
- Track website analytics and prepare bi-monthly website analytic report for state director and board of directors (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov)
- Manage all aspects of UtahWomenOwned.com, including keeping web pages current on UtahWomenOwned.com using eDirectory platform, adding frequent and accurate new listings, approve new claimed listings, sponsor accounts and check and respond to leads, reviews and banner requests
Marketing & Communication
- Manage WBCUtah’s Google account, create @wbcutah.com email accounts for new team members and assist team members with any email issues
- Manage account by checking frequently, replying to and appropriately forwarding incoming email, and providing validation codes to requesting team member(s)
- Assist the state director develop a comprehensive annual marketing plan which includes identified priorities, coordinated channels, campaigns, schedule and budget
- Serve on WBCUtah’s Marketing Committee to help maintain a strong cohesive brand identity through coordinated efforts, including analyzing market trends, and strategy for and execution of statewide campaigns and special projects
- Oversee a growing email distribution list(s) in MailChimp by importing new client profiles, maintaining templates and initiating Nurture Sequence emails (8), monthly newsletters (2; Northern & Southern) and eblasts
- Oversee WBCUtah’s podcast “Women Own it!’ including planning, scheduling, overseeing the recording/editing and timely launch of episodes/seasons
- Answer incoming phone calls if/when business advising manager does not answer
Social Media
- Maintain and monitor all WBCUtah social media accounts/channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter & TikTok) adjusting for changes in algorithm in order to maximize reach and engagement of WBCUtah and providing a bi-monthly report of account followers and engagement to state director and board of directors (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov)
- Execute all aspects of digital communication across platforms/channels keeping brand cohesiveness to promote to WBCUtah target audiences, including creating and scheduling all social posts, reels and stories ensuring continuity and utilizing the #socialmedia Slack channel for communication
- Respond to DMs on Meta Business for Facebook & Instagram and on LinkedIn and Twitter
Data & Technology
- Oversee Google Forms, distribution and responses to WBCUtah Annual Client and Impact Surveys, and provide response rate updates to team
- Research, recommend and, with the approval of the state director, order and coordinate setup of new technology, hardware and software with Salt Chamber contacts
Team Support
- Help set and accomplish WBCUtah strategic goals, priorities and objectives, and participate in special projects as assigned
- Participate and engage in WBCUtah recurring weekly, and monthly virtual team meetings and provide priority updates, as well as Salt Lake Chambers All Staff Meetings, training and additional meetings as needed
- Participate in occasional WBCUtah client training, events, outreach efforts and community presentation etc.
- Travel to and assist with WBCUtah annual retreat (Spring) and Salt Lake Chamber’s Women & Business Conference (Nov in SLC) and other major events as needed, which may require overnight stays

- Some college preferred or equivalent experience

Qualifications

- Strong organizational and time management skills: Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Proficiency in digital marketing: Expertise in utilizing social media, email marketing, and other digital channels to promote events and reach target audiences.
- Excellent communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in a group or with an individual
- Technical proficiency: Familiarity with digital platforms, Google Workspace, social media, databases/CRM software, Squarespace, Mailchimp etc.
This position has the potential to be remote.
