We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Patient Financial Counselor to join our Women’s Care team. This role is responsible for helping patients understand their financial obligations and guiding them through insurance benefits, payment options, and financial assistance programs. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of healthcare billing and insurance, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
About the Role:
This is a full-time opportunity working on-site at our RiverBend facility, across from the hospital in Springfield, Oregon. The position has an expectation of 40hrs per week and we are proud to offer attractive pay and a great benefits package.
What will you do:
- Obtain benefit information for services provided to patients by prescreening appointments and verifying insurance eligibility prior to services, relaying this information to patients, allowing for prior authorization, obtaining referrals, and collection out of pocket payments from patients.
- Developing relationships with patients in order to provide counseling regarding their fiscal responsibilities in relationship to their care.
- Works diligently to ensure accurate billing for patient services following company, federal, and third-party insurance carrier billing rules and regulations, following up as needed to ensure collection of monies owed from all sources.
Requirements
What do you need to bring to the role:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Work related experience should be in the medical business office environment. Educational experience, through in-house training, formal school or related curriculum, should be applicable to medical billing and/or accounting.
