What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-op/PACU RN position at Women's Center for Advanced Surgery?
Women’s Center for Advanced Surgery of Covington, is seeking a qualified Pre-op/PACU RN to administer diligent care to outpatients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment. Position is full-time, twelve-hour shifts, with TWO weeks off a month. Duties
- Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery.
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
- Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure.
- Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria.
- Chart all findings in patient file.
- Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort.
- Monitor patient’s post-operative for condition changes and post-operative symptoms of anesthesia, reporting any changes to the physician.
- Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies.
- Educate patients and their family members on post-operative care.
- Demonstrates the willingness to cross-train/float when/if the opportunity arises.
Requirements/Preferences
- An Associates or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is required
- Current Georgia Registered Nurse license and BLS certification are required
- Minimum of one (1) year in Ambulatory Surgery, Outpatient Surgery, Recovery Room, or Medical/Surgical nursing preferred
