Position Summary :
Reporting to the Director of Property Management, the Resident Services Coordinator is responsible to provide referral and informational services and programs to residents and their families to enhance their quality of life and assist them to remain lease compliant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Respond to referrals from property managers or resident self-referrals.
Regularly travels to sites and meets with residents to provide support in resolving issues related to lease-compliance as well as personal health and well-being. Examples of issues include non-payment of rent, housekeeping, security, illegal activity, or conflicts amongst neighbors or family members.
Be an active participant in delinquency resolution within the property management team by meeting with residents who are not making their rent payment and engaging and coordinating with such programs as Rent Relief RI. Assist residents with delinquency resolution.
Assess resident's behavior, cognitive ability, and capabilities to determine the most appropriate solutions / services.
May provide tools / instruments to enhance their ability for self-care.
Refer and connect residents to suitable community-based services and resources as appropriate. Address crisis situations in a timely manner.
Make referrals and coordinate the delivery of services with outside agencies as applicable. Follow-up with residents and agencies as necessary.
Provide supportive counseling to residents, particularly in the areas of grief, socio-emotional support, and isolation. Refer cases to providers for case management / therapeutic services as needed.
Build a sense of community through programs provided to residents by RSC and / or partner agencies.
Help Property Manager prepare for site inspections. Participate in joint unit inspections with Property Manager and / or Maintenance; follow up on any referrals from inspections such as housekeeping, illegal occupants, and zero-income residents. Assess residents' units for safety and appropriate sanitation. Assist to increase resident awareness and provide support and resources as needed.
Preserve resident confidentiality.
Foster a positive, active and collaborative relationship with local government, non-profit agencies, social service agencies / providers, residents, communities and outreach contacts.
Other duties as directed by supervisor.
Other Responsibilities :
Maintain certification through continuing education.
Participate in professional development and networking with local social service agencies.
Education and Experience :
Associate degree in social work, human services or related field required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certification as a Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) preferred; or working toward certification within first 6 months of hire.
2-4 years' work experience providing services in a Housing / Multi-Family housing environment, or a human services position in a private, non-profit social service organization. Experience working with specific groups such as seniors and those with cognitive disabilities a plus.
Valid Driver's License and Insured vehicle. Safe driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies :

Knowledge of mental health, addictions, family issues, multicultural issues, and elderly service delivery system.
Ability to interface effectively with various constituencies in a non-judgmental, empathetic manner.
Strong verbal communication skills and an ability to diffuse conflict in stressful situations.
Self-starter. Primarily works independently, setting own priorities and schedules.
Able to work well as a member of a team and resident committees.
Able and willing to network and work cooperatively with community agencies.
Flexible / Adaptable : ability to work patiently in an environment which can be challenging.
Ability to handle emergency situations and pressure due to complexity and time sensitivity.
Integrity / Ethics; ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment.
Has high standards of professionalism and is able to positively represent WDC / HOC in the community.
Good problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and comfort learning property management software.
Bilingual, English-Spanish preferred

Employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Protocol for safety and security is a priority. Occasional work after normal business hours. Use of phones, computer, fax, and other general office equipment.
