Individual hired for this position can expect to participate in activities that touch on all three areas of agency programming including: one-on-one consults and coaching sessions; development and facilitation of workshops, panel discussions and other activities that offer networking opportunities for women; initiate and collaborate with other community organizations on projects that address issues important to the personal and professional advancement of women.

Strategic Life Coach plays an integral role in supporting clients, promotes a positive and engaging learning experience, engages in community outreach activities, and actively collaborates with other professionals to assist clients in securing resources as needed. The individual in this position is a crucial Personal & Professional Development program team member, working closely with other staff members to ensure services and activities are implemented to reflect competence, quality, and expertise.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties specific to this position:

Client support & engagement

  • Using a strategic life coaching approach, provide guidance and support that enhances a client’s confidence, skills, and resources that lead to a sustainable future based on the client’s goals.
  • Provide regular client feedback highlighting the individual’s successes and next steps.
  • Develop strategies that increase participation by clients and community members in agency-sponsored workshops, panel discussions, and other events.
  • Regularly monitor and assess client and program successes in conjunction with the program team
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate structured activities that focus on the social-emotional/wellness of clients
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and detailed records and summaries/reports as required

Community Relations

  • Serve as an ambassador for the Women’s Opportunity Center in all situations and settings where other agencies, businesses, or organizations are present.
  • Collaborate with staff responsible for the agency’s marketing and social media presence to ensure all content developed for events coordinated by this position is accurate, relevant to the media platform being used, and reflects your marketing requests.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and detailed records and summaries/reports

· Supervise Internship projects as a Community Partner

  • Coordinate Work Experience programs with community partners as needed
  • Attend Women’s Opportunity Center activities and events to interact with clients, community partners, and staff as requested
  • Respond to inquiries from clients, community partners, funders, and Women’s Opportunity Center Staff
  • Promote the resources and achievements to internal and external audiences
  • Support team members on projects and initiatives as needed, including workshops, presentations, community events, donor development, services, and professional development opportunities as requested

  • Promotes personal accountability by aligning professional goals, objectives, and performance with Women’s Opportunity Center’s strategic goals.
  • Demonstrates excellent work attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Follows the agency’s established policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times, including all health and safety requirements and regulations, to promote desired behavior and build awareness.
  • Must complete all agency-required training as directed
  • Continually maintains skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry, including best practices, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends.
  • Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.

Applicant Requirements:

Must have--

  • Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience required
  • Experience in creating training, workshops, and/or instructional programs and presentations
  • Life Coaching Certification or comparable experience required
  • Minimum two years of experience working with at-risk clients, preferably within Client Development or a related area
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent customer service and business etiquette skills
  • NYS Driver’s License required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Persons who are successful in this position have demonstrated the following skills, abilities, and attributes:

  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Knowledge of Human Development, Life Coaching, and Professional Development industries is a plus
  • Knowledge of and comfortable with discussing issues and concerns particular to trauma as experienced by survivors of physical, sexual, or other forms of intimate partner abuse
  • Comfortable in the role of advisor and mentor to clients
  • Able to effectively communicate and interact with clients, staff, and community members from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds
  • Readily able and willing to adapt to diverse learning styles and study skills
  • Knowledge of computer programs for individuals and groups, such as Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Canva, Zoom, and digital navigation
  • Enjoy interacting with a range of personalities, education levels, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, creating successful collaborative relationships
  • Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends to accommodate client needs and programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strive to meet deadlines
