Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, EXPERIENCED (with at least 6 months of training in a dental office) and friendly dental assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office. As a dental assistant, you will work closely with ONE dentist and other team members to assist in various procedures, maintain patient records, and contribute to a welcoming environment for our patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by preparing necessary instruments and materials.
- Take and record vital signs to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Manage patient records, including medical history and treatment plans, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Utilize dental software systems such as Open Dental for scheduling appointments and managing patient information.
- Perform basic dental procedures such as composite restorations, crown preparation, extractions, hygiene, exams; take impressions, apply sealants, and take dental radiographs.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of dental instruments and work areas in compliance with health regulations.
- Provide support in pediatric dentistry by engaging with patients to ease their anxiety during visits.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Assist with admin tasks when available such as answering phones, scheduling patients, collecting payments, etc.
- Putting away supplies and performing housekeeping duties.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology related to dentistry.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
- Experience with dental imaging techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with managing medical records efficiently within dental software systems.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Compassionate approach towards pediatric patients, ensuring a positive experience for children visiting the dentist.
