Position Description
Position Title: Jr. High Literacy Facilitator- In District ONLY
FLSA: Exempt
Report To: Building Principal
The secondary literacy instructional coach must possess a strong foundation in secondary language arts skills and concepts. The instructional coach must be proficient in coordinating and implementing the lesson designs, pacing guides, and curriculum for the literacy department at the high school level. Effectively communicates with others and possesses strong leadership skills and is able to motivate others to work as a team to meet expected outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct classroom walkthroughs, monitor instructional practices, conduct departmental level training and professional development
- Interpret test data and provide effective instructional strategies to address skills deficits
- Utilize curriculum and pacing guides, and other materials in planning lesson plans and teaching outlines.
- Participate in curriculum review and design and adoption of instructional materials
- Implement a variety of instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives
- Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely manner.
- Provide support in creating classroom environments that are conducive to learning
- Provide departmental leadership to ensure that mathematics standards are been implemented with fidelity.
- Provide support for novice teachers as needed.
- Provide other duties as assigned.
Other Job Responsibilities:
- Abide by state statues, code of ethics , school board policies and regulations
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and supervisors
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible to receive a valid Arkansas Teaching License with Grade 7-12 Certification in Secondary Language Arts with at least three exemplary years of teaching high school English/Language Arts.
