Position Summary:

The Plant Mechanic will perform a variety of skilled duties involved in the maintenance, repair, service, and installation of equipment, machinery, and related facilities at our Harleysville, PA location. The candidate should be reliable, accountable, and a team player. This role requires someone who can work a flexible schedule that may range Monday – Friday, from 5:30 am to 3:00 pm ET, with a minimum of 2 Saturdays per month. This is a full-time position that averages 45 hours per week, not including weekends.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect, maintain, repair and service plant machinery and equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listen for problems; use precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Record and report damaged, worn or broken parts.
• Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintain shop areas, parts, tools and supplies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Experience working in the food industry, a plus.
• Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
• Works well independently and with others.
• Good communication skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of related experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean and service machinery.
• Must be able to visually inspect machines.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
