Our Mission - To create and advance high quality, diverse educational communities that teach children the foundations of life-long learning and social responsibility.

Since our inception in 1976, our goal has been to provide non-profit, quality child care to working families. Over the years, we have grown from a single center in the basement of All Saint's Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland to multiple accredited early learning, extended day, and summer camp programs across the DC Metropolitan Region.

Approximately 80% of our annual budget is directed to staff compensation.

Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for the implementation of Wonders policies and procedures that ensure consistent and efficient business practices. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Wonders administrative team, the Operations Manager will provide leadership, collaboration, and active support in business functions and human resources. The Operations Manager will provide thoughtful leadership contributing to the implementation of best practices in the operations of the organization.

Essential Functions

As a core member of the Wonders administrative leadership team, the Operations Manager will:

  • Collaborate thoughtfully and enthusiastically to support Wonders' mission and strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate and manage the Wonders calendar to ensure it captures program information and Wonders-wide activities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for leasing entities and manage lease renewals.
  • Oversee program emergency preparedness protocols, ensuring best practices and licensing compliance.
  • Support the Controller with bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Act as a liaison between Wonders staff and the human resources consulting team, and manage HR files.
  • Serve as the point of contact with the IT consulting team and manage IT inventory.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in operations or business, or related field.
  • Nonprofit experience is an asset.
  • Experience in a child care/educational setting is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills including records and reporting management.
  • Organization development or human resources management experience.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and sound judgement in decision-making.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with consultants and team members.
  • Capacity to set goals, develop strategies, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.

Salary : $62,000 - $65,000
