Your day as a Assistant Curator of Birds, Mammals, and Wigglers
As the Full-Time Assistant Curator of Birds, Mammals, and Wigglers, your day-to-day expectations will involve a diverse set of responsibilities aimed at promoting conservation and ensuring animal care excellence. You will be involved in creating staff schedules to optimize team efficiency and coverage throughout the facility. Conducting interviewing and hiring sessions will be part of your role, as you seek to build a great team passionate about wildlife and education.
Daily tasks will include training new staff on protocols for animal care, exhibit maintenance, all while maintaining safety protocols. You will also oversee feedings, health assessments, and habitat enrichment for our animal residents. As a leader in animal care, the Assistant Curator will work with their team of keepers to help them continue to learn and grow in the industry. Collaborating with fellow curators, you will develop programs to enhance awareness of conservation efforts and provide excellent care to our animals.
