Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Food Service
- Organize, prepare, and deliver breakfast, lunch, and snacks to classrooms, ensuring all meals align with the menu and accommodate dietary needs and allergies.
- Monitor food and supply inventory; place weekly orders per CACFP, Kremmer’s, and Novick guidelines. Verify deliveries against invoices and promptly address any discrepancies.
- Complete daily meal count forms and inventory sheets. Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with food program requirements.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and appliances regularly. Perform monthly deep-cleaning tasks and adhere to all health and safety standards.
- Check and log refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily, reporting any issues immediately.
- Update and distribute food allergy and preference lists. Ensure all classrooms are stocked with necessary dining supplies.
- Assist with classroom coverage and float between classrooms as needed to ensure compliance and supervision.
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing approved, curriculum-based lesson plans.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, being attentive to their individual and group needs.
- Teach children acceptable alternatives to challenging behaviors using provided techniques such as FLIP IT and Second Step.
- Keep parents informed about their children's progress and any relevant observations.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude with children, parents, co-workers, and administrators.
- Minimum, High School Diploma/GED
- ServeSafe Certification, required
- At least two years' experience in early childcare education (2,500 verified hours).
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with parents/guardians.
- Ability to maintain high level standards of confidentiality regarding center, staff, and family matters
- Understanding of DHS licensing, Keystone Stars, and accreditation standards.
- Proficient in managing a multicultural classroom environment.
