Position Description
Position Title: Deputy Clerk
Division: Wood County Clerk of Courts-Legal Division
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Unclassified Position
JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service and complete tasks as required by the Ohio Revised Code, as assigned by the Clerk of Court, for the Wood County Court of Common Pleas, General Division and Sixth District Court of Appeals.

Minimum Requirements:
- Keyboarding: 50 wpm using correct keyboarding method
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic computer operation, 10-key and data entry skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual depending on the situation.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSTION
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Knowledge of Ohio Revised Code; Ohio Civil Rules; Local Court Rules
- Provide professional, tactful and courteous customer service.
- The ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers to fulfill public records requests.
- Cooperate and work with court personnel, attorneys, litigants, defendants, and other justice system partners.
- Operate personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-function machine, phone system, micro-film machine, file stamp and other equipment as necessary to complete the essential functions.
- Knowledge of software applications related to the CourtView Case Management System, OnBase Document Imaging System, Court File Now E-Filing System, as well as, various applications such as, but not limited to USPS/Neopost Software, various Ohio Attorney General applications, Word/Excel/Outlook, B.C.I., Credit Card, and micro-film software.
- Receive, process and prepare documents, such as, but not limited to, complaints, notice of appeals, motions, pleadings, summons, warrants, bonds, legal notices and certificate of judgements for all case types. This includes accurately indexing, maintaining and updating case dockets and party information and perfecting service per Ohio Revised Code, Local Court Rules and/or court orders.
- Secure and protect documents and follow retention policies/schedules.
- Follow court orders.
- Knowledgeable of all required fees and deposits, and the ability to handle, receipt, and/or secure payments. Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Become a certified passport agent, keep up to-date with certification and policies provided by the Department of State and assist customers with passport applications.
- Navigate and assist customers with Clerk of Courts website.
- Attend training/webinars, as deemed necessary by the Clerk of Courts and Supervisors, and remain current on rules and procedures affecting the statutory responsibilities of the Clerk of Courts.

Pay: $19.50 per hour
