Certified Pharmacy Technician / Full Time
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist and according to standard procedures, the pharmacy technician provides personal care and professional excellence by compounding and dispensing medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving prescriptions from physicians and other qualified prescribers; typing labels, filing and preparing charge slips and performing other duties.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Demonstrates appropriate skills required to work with patients of any age. 2. Demonstrates accurate knowledge of the Pharmacy laws, rules and regulations commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. 3. Demonstrates accurate knowledge of professional pharmacy theory and practice with the ability to apply appropriate techniques under the supervision of a pharmacist as permitted by law. 4. Is proficient on pharmaceutical terms, mathematics, weights, measures, symbols and use of equipment commensurate with duties. 5. Follows oral and written directions in exact detail. 6. Receives, checks and accurately stores all incoming drugs and other supplies as directed by the pharmacists. 7. Assists the pharmacist in maintaining accurate inventory control and reports. 8. Prepares accurate drug and supply orders when necessary. 9. Accurately assists the pharmacist in maintaining all necessary records in the receipt of and in the distribution of all dangerous drugs. 10. Performs proper technical pharmaceutical procedures such as packaging, pre-packing, labeling and storing of drugs with the proper facilities and under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. 11. Types accurate prescription labels as directed by a registered pharmacist. 12. Makes deliveries of drugs to the floors under the direction of a registered pharmacist. 13. Assists the pharmacist in the processing of medication orders and dispensing of medications. • Fills medication requisitions and orders. • Prepares, compounds, repackages, and labels medications for distribution. • Processes and accurately fills stock requisitions and refill lists for automated • dispensing machines. • Processes and fills floor stock requisitions; restocks emergency carts and boxes. 14. Transports medications/supplies to patient care areas where applicable. • Delivers medications to patient care areas. • Refills automated dispensing machines. • Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from nursing units on delivery rounds. POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. • Experience: Two (2) years prior pharmacy technician experience preferred. • Registration: Registered Pharmacy Technician with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy required or • Pharmacy Technician Trainee with Ohio Licensure within ten (10) weeks of hire • date. • Certification: CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) with national Pharmacy Technician • Certification Board required. • Other: Data entry experience, knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, exhibits strong • communication and interpersonal skills. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS • The person must be in good physical health and free of any communicable disease (including a carrier of communicable disease). • The person must have normal vision and hearing or corrected with the aid of glasses, hearing aide, etc. • This person must have no history of use or addiction to narcotic drugs or excessive use of alcoholic beverages.
