Position Summary:
The Banquet Server is responsible for the distribution of assorted beverages and alcoholic drinks, meals, condiments and appetizers.
Will also be expected to work in other Food & Beverage positions (if over the age of 21) including Bartender, Banquet Bartender, and Beverage Cart
Essential Job Functions
- Greet customers and maintain professional customer interaction.
- Make recommendations and answer all related inquiries.
- Check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age.
- Take orders directly from customers.
- Serve food prepared by the kitchen staff.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work station and banquet room, as required by the Health Department’s policies and procedures as well as Park District policies.
- Follow all Park District and State of Illinois liquor policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Clear all tables of soiled dishes, glasses, and rubbish in a timely manner.
- Keep banquet room clean and presentable after each event.
- Perform all job task within the rules and guidelines of the Park District’s safety program.
- Respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional manner.
- Attempt to limit problems related to customers’ excessive drinking by following established procedures.
- Process transactions and customer payments using the POS system.
- Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies.
- Assist other banquet servers and kitchen as needed to ensure success of banquet operations.
- Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments.
Other Job Functions
- Wipe down service areas and equipment and take out all trash/bottles at the end of each shift.
- Maintain a positive interaction and cooperation with Park District staff, the public and Facility patrons.
- Perform the job in compliance with Park District policies.
Qualifications
Requirements of Work
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be a team player.
- Handle a fast-paced work environment.
- Knowledge of standard drink recipes, spirits, wine and beer.
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Able to reach and bend and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Basic knowledge of operating a computer.
- Numeracy and cash-handling skills.
- Wear appropriate Park District Apparel
Necessary Special Requirements
- 18 years of age
- BASSET certified or willing to obtain within 14 days of hire
- Food Handler certified or willing to obtain within 14 days of hire
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Able to work flexible schedules

- Part Time PTO – After one year of employment. Based on years of service and hours worked

Hours of work and Compensation
Hours would be based on needs of the facility. This could include morning, evening, weekends and holiday shifts.
Working Conditions:
- Greet, acknowledge and handle customer interactions and answer questions in a professional manner.
- Active use of POS system.
Salary : $15
