SUMMARY
Responsible for performing manual machining operations on overhaul component parts in accordance with WGPW established methods and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes but is not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, indicators, and swing gages.
- Measure, examine, and test completed components in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measurement equipment.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations, including tool selection and calculation of appropriate speed and feeds.
- Use and interpretation of appropriate technical data, including but not limited to travelers, blueprints and other technical data as provided.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be able to read, interpret, document, and use manufacturer’s technical manuals.
- Must have good mechanical skills, a high level of manual dexterity including hand-eye coordination and the ability to accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- Must be able to effectively and safely use manufacturer’s special tooling.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of previous experience in the operation of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Experience in the overhaul and repair of aviation components is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience grinding and ability to set up and operate cylindrical shafts up to 6 feet between centers, IDs-ODs on Hubs and various parts chucked or face plated using Universal Cylindrical Grinder.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience setting up and operating Jig Grinder on various parts (Bearing Liners, Housing IDs-ODs, hub IDs-ODs), grinding Chrome and Hard Coat a plus.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
