The Commercial Loan Officer position is primarily responsible for managing and growing an assigned portfolio of commercial customers. Performs a wide variety of customer services. Work is varied in nature with changing priorities. Requires high level of knowledge of bank products and services. Works under minimal supervision and in compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)
- Introduces customers to other departments when a service can be rendered.
- Provides customer service to prospective and existing customers including discussing financial needs of customers and recommending products that meet those needs, approving checks for cashing, and responding to customer complaints.
- Monitors production activity and ensures individual sales goals are met.
- Represents the Bank within the community through various civic and non-profit organizations to promote and develop new businessess.
- Develops and maintains an individual loan portfolio.
- Takes loan applications for installment, real estate, or commercial loans; uses credit scoring system or other analysis to approve loans within established lending limit and assures that loan goals are met. Collects fees and all required documentation related to funded loans. Prepares marginal and over-limit loans for Loan Committee approval.
- Services loan relationships by contacting customers regarding delinquent payments, authorizing payment deferrals, loan extensions, collateral releases.
- Reviews overdraft report for assigned customer portfolio and approves overdrafts for amounts up to authorized lending limit.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of all lending and banking concepts and regulations.
- Moderate accounting skills necessary to perform balancing, reconciliation, reporting and financial analysis functions.
- Moderate computer skills with working knowledge of all lending and deposit systems and applications.
- In-depth knowledge of all bank products and services, policies, and procedures.
- Accomplished ability to explain all bank products and services to sell and cross-sell bank products and services and respond to customer inquiries.
- Advanced written, oral, interpersonal, and negotiating skills with ability to recognize and respond to sales opportunities and deliver persuasive sales presentations.
- Previous Commercial Lending experience preferred.
- At least one year in current position required.
