What are the responsibilities and job description for the UNIVERSAL BANKER I position at Wood & Huston Bank?
The Universal Banker position is primarily responsible for performing a wide variety of customer services and providing assistance to Consumer Bankers and Loan Officers in a number of ways to provide excellent customer service and cross-sell Bank’s products. Work is varied in nature with changing priorities. Requires working knowledge of bank products and services. Works under general supervision and incompliance with established policies, procedures and regulations.
Essential Functions (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)
- Interviews customers and prospects to acquire information and define financial needs; recommends and sells products to meet their financial needs and opens appropriate new accounts. Prepares new account documentation. Executes many cross-sell opportunities with established and prospective customers.
- Sells and redeems Certificates of Deposit.
- Opens and maintains Individual Retirement and Health Savings Accounts.
- Takes loan applications for retail loans. Collects fees and documentation related to funded loans. Prepares loan documentation.
- Receives and screens telephone calls and visitors; responds to inquiries or routes caller to appropriate personnel. Researches and resolves problems, initiates and follows-up research requests. Assists in balancing statements. May work with Reg E disputes.
- Accepts and processes telephone and wire transfers, stop payment requests and check orders. Closes accounts. Admits customers to safe deposit boxes. May open and maintain safe deposit accounts.
- Provides customers with notary services, NADA vehicle values, and other non-bank services. Refers customers with non-retail product needs to appropriate providers.
- Performs loan support and new account support duties such as running credit bureau reports, typing, filing, making copies, using word processing and spreadsheet programs, taking loan payments, processing loan extensions, processing titles, etc.
- Performs all Teller duties (see Teller job description).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of some deposit, lending and banking concepts and regulations.
- Moderate computer skills with basic knowledge of all lending and deposit systems and applications.
- Basic accounting skills to perform balancing, reconciliation, reporting and analysis functions.
- Basic knowledge of all bank products and services, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to explain some of bank products and services in order to sell and cross-sell bank products and services and respond to customer inquiries.
- Good written, oral, interpersonal and negotiating skills with ability to recognize and respond to sales opportunities.
- At least 90 days in current position required.
