Wood is recruiting for a Senior Structural Designer to join its Projects business focusing on structural design and layout. This opportunity is hybrid in Houston, Texas.

This role is responsible for providing comprehensive support for structural design and layout, supporting discipline engineering leads, ensuring adherence to project standards, and guiding junior designers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform tasks with competency and extensive knowledge of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria

Support the discipline engineering lead in maintaining budget, schedule, and adherence to the project scope of work

Coordinate and facilitate with the structural Section Lead for staff assignment, change management, and discipline technical support

Review and apply project standards and documents to assure they are compatible and aligned with overall project objectives

Work closely with peer project design staff and engineering staff to ensure the integrity of project deliverables and documentation

Participate in available technical training while continuously improving technical skill sets

Provide guidance and support to Structural Designers

Check and deliver project miscellaneous pipe & tray support scope

Expected :

2-year Associate degree in Applied Science, Engineering Design, or equivalent training / experience

10 years of industry experience

Strong working knowledge of industry standards and design tools such as AutoCAD & Aveva E3D software (E3D & MPS experience required)

Complete understanding of required scheduling, productivity reporting, and work processes for deliverable production

Complete knowledge of department design and drafting standards and procedures

Strong ethical standards and high level of awareness and commitment to safety

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative

Integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and dependability

Accountable for results and adaptable to changing project needs

Team player that works well with supervisors, peers, and clients

Ability to work well in a team environment, with good communication skills both orally and written

Enthusiasm to learn

Desirable :

Experience working on large-scale industrial projects

Experience mentoring junior staff members

Familiarity with advanced structural modeling and analysis software
