Located in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, just 45 minutes from Madison, we are a voluntary, residential substance use treatment program dedicated to transforming lives. Serving clients ages 18-65, we are a privately owned facility driven by our mission to turn every addiction story into one of sustainable sobriety. We are looking for an Addiction Counselor to assess and monitor client behavior while in treatment for chemical and/or alcohol use and dependency.
- You will provide crisis management and counseling services while also running group therapies and education for the clients and family/significant others in a therapeutic setting.
- You will care for client’s emotional needs and coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
- You will be responsible for documenting client behavior in group participation and counseling.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist and facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
- Provide assessment and participate in the treatment planning with clients and their families/significant others.
- Review client chart for completion of all paperwork with appropriate signatures.
- Initiate, facilitate and promote on-site activities, therapeutic support and educational groups, outings and community meetings and document these activities in the client’s chart.
- Provide education for clients and significant others.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate action as required.
- Record significant events involving client’s activities in the daily record.
- Respond to client complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Check for completion of client orientation by intake staff.
- Contact family after intake and set up a schedule of communication for the remainder of treatment.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
To be an Addiction Counselor at Wood Violet Recovery, you should have:
- Knowledge of HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal community resources available to clients.
- Prior experience and knowledge in an addiction recovery and/or MAT (medication assisted treatment) environment.
- Experience with crisis management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current, active SAC-IT, CSAC, or SAC licensure in state of Wisconsin.
- 1 year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
- Ability to successfully pass a caregiver background check and criminal background check at hire and annually thereafter in accordance with state and local DHS requirements.
- Must successfully pass a drug screen per WVR policy.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
