We are looking for an Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to assess and monitor client behavior while in treatment for chemical and/or alcohol use and dependency.
- You will provide crisis management and counseling services while also running group therapies and education for the clients and family/significant others in a therapeutic setting.
- You will care for client’s emotional needs and coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
- You will be responsible for documenting client behavior in group participation and counseling.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist and facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
- Provide assessment and participate in the treatment planning with clients and their families/significant others.
- Review client chart for completion of all paperwork with appropriate signatures.
- Initiate, facilitate and promote on-site activities, therapeutic support and educational groups, outings and community meetings and document these activities in the client’s chart.
- Provide education for clients and significant others.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate action as required.
- Record significant events involving client’s activities in the daily record.
- Respond to client complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Check for completion of client orientation by intake staff.
- Contact family after intake and set up a schedule of communication for the remainder of treatment.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Current, active SAC-IT, CSAC, or SAC licensure in state of Wisconsin.
- 1 year of experience working with individuals with addiction/substance use disorders.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
- Ability to successfully pass a caregiver background check and criminal background check at hire and annually thereafter in accordance with state and local DHS requirements.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.
