Job Summary
WoodWard Creek Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a skilled and dependable Medication Aide to join our care team. As a Medication Aide, you will be responsible for safely administering medications to residents while ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to providing resident-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Administration:
- Accurately prepare and administer prescribed medications to residents following physician orders and facility protocols.
- Observe residents for any adverse reactions or side effects and promptly report to the nurse or healthcare team.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of medication administration in resident records.
Resident Care:
- Assist residents with daily activities as needed, including hygiene, mobility, and other aspects of personal care.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents while administering medications.
- Promote residents' dignity, privacy, and independence during care.
Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team regarding resident status, medication concerns, or changes in condition.
- Participate in care team meetings and contribute to the development of resident care plans.
Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies, regarding medication administration and resident care.
- Adhere to infection control practices, safety procedures, and proper storage of medications.
- Stay current with training and certifications related to medication administration.
Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Washington.
- Completion of a Medication Aide training program approved by the state of Washington.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Medication Aide or CNA in a long-term care or assisted living setting preferred.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds as needed.
- May involve exposure to infectious diseases or hazardous materials, following appropriate safety protocols.
