PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Administrator, the Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care services to adults with developmental disabilities and special health care needs in their home. Per diem position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSABILITIES:
- As part of the Woodbridge Clayton care team, the Lead DSP provides personal care and assistance in the facility, the place of residence for adults with developmental disabilities.
- The DSP activities are directed towards maintaining and maximizing the client’s abilities to live safely and comfortably in their own home.
- Tasks may include IHCP services such as: assisting clients with personal care (bathing, care of mouth, skin and hair) and assisting clients with eating; helping in and out of bed in the home; assistance in toileting (including use of bedpan); and assisting with ambulation. Other tasks including client laundry, shopping, and other related activities.
- Escorts and assist clients to, from and at medical appointments.
- Provides behavioral/emotional supervision or support to clients, such as reality orientation or reminders to follow through on nursing/medical care and diet restrictions.
- Other duties may include assisting with meal preparation, including special diets and set up for meals.
- To report changes in client’s condition, such as in skin condition, bowel/bladder pattern, emotional and behavioral responses.
- Abuse reporting
- Actively participates in Disaster/Fire Drills
- Under supervision of licensed staff, may be assigned to assist with special program/client needs (i.e. recreation program, rehab/maintenance exercise program, and internal program committees).
- Responsible for keeping areas of client care clean and safe when clients are on site or in their homes.
- Regularly reports on status and progress of clients to the Administrator and licensed staff.
- Fulfills other administrative requirements of the job such as reporting, keeping statistical records, making entries in charts using computerized system, attending staff conferences and meetings as directed.
- Will actively participate in the training and orientation of DSP, volunteers, etc.
- Actively participates in and encourages actions that promote good public relations with clients, their families and friends, visitors and the community.
- Working for a program that provides services seven days a week. Responsible for coordinating staffing with the Administrator.
- All other reasonably related jobs as assigned.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Training and current certification as a Home Health Aide or a Certified Nurse’s Assistant in the State of California, or equivalent experience in lieu of certificate is an advantage but not required.
Background and Experience:
- Sincere interest and commitment in working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to work as part of an individual health care team with initiative, imagination, resourcefulness, and flexibility.
- Knowledge of the community served.
- Completes health and TB screening.
- Completes Criminal Records Clearance
- Has a minimum of 6 months prior experience providing direct supervision and/or care of adults with developmental disabilities.
- Computer literacy preferred.
- Interest and willingness to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment.
- Current Driver’s License (for WBC staff transporting clients only).
Certifications and Preferred Experience
- DSP 1 and 2 Training Certification required.
- 6 months experience working with clients with developmental disabilities preferred.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
