JOB TITLE: Medical Technician/Resident Care Assistant
SUMMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting with all phases of
residential care
TASK - Assist resident with the activities of daily
living:
bathing, dressing, toileting, oral care, dressing for bed and social
activities. Routine checks on each resident every two hours. Memory care should
be check every hour. Performs other duties that maybe required but not limited
to residents.
TASK - Documents as directed by regulatory guideline pertinent information in each residents’ progress notes. Completes
incident/accident reports for each occurrence.
TASK - Administers Medications and treatments when
required:
policies and procedures for medication administration. Document in MAR
(medication administration record) according to policy complies with state and
federal regulation regarding medication administration. Fax medication orders
to the pharmacy as needed.
TASK - Assist during meal preparation, supervision pf
dining room and clean up:
set-up and serving of meals, Dining room in assisted living and memory care
should be swept and moped after each meal.
TASK - Attend in service / staff meetings as
scheduled
all mandatory staff meetings and in service programs. Receives a minimum of 12
hours of continuing education yearly.
TASK - Observes infection control practices
frequently as indicated during residential care and dining room activities and
medication passes. Stores soiled linen in closed containers in resident’s rooms
and laundry room on assigned days. Assists with laundry of towels and sheets at
the beginning of the shift. Clean at the end of each shift. Report to work in
neat, clean attire. Practice good personal hygiene.
TASK- Shift Requirements
- Must stay awake and alert for the duration of the shift
Team Member's working for us plays a vital role in the community's success by providing excellent personal care to our residents. The Mediation Aide carries out the individualized care plan for each resident assisting with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming Caregivers, toileting, and transfers. As a Med Tech, you are also responsible for the safe distribution and management of medication to our Residents.
- Treat residents, family members, and coworkers with dignity and respect at all times
- Maintain Resident privacy/confidentiality
- Respond to emergency calls, and resident/visitor requests, and correct environmental hazards in a timely, appropriate, and safe manner
- Obtain/perform vital signs/weights monthly as directed
- Update the communication log at the end of each shift
- Observe facility policies and procedures regarding attendance, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other policies/procedures that may be introduced
- Regularly review, follow, and adhere to Resident care plans
- Know how to be able to respond to emergency needs as designed by facility policy
- Know and comply with all Resident Rights
- Attend in-service training and mandatory staff meetings
- Adhere to universal precautions and infection control procedures
- Document and report care provided and Resident observations including unusual or significant changes in mental, physical, or behavioral conditions
- Provide assistance (or reminders) with activities of daily living such as grooming, oral hygiene, bath/shower, hair, and maintaining the personal environment (i.e. clothing/linen, personal belongings within the apartment, and spot-cleaning)
- Notify Resident Care Director and Executive Director if a Resident is sent to the hospital or in the event of death
- Answer phone calls when the concierge is not available
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician's orders and facility policy
- responsible for maintaining a cleaning and organized medication cart and medication room
- Assist with setup and serving of meals, supervision of dining room, and clean-up
- Required to stay alert and attentive during all scheduled work hours
- Perform any additional duties as requested by supervisors
