Shipping and Material Handler
- ROLE PURPOSE
To aid and support the Materials Manager with the goal of implementing continuous improvement to our systems and processes and implement standards. Mainly focused on material flow, lay outs and lean tools. To observe, study, and report information about our existing systems and processes to help the team better understand opportunities for improvement. To conduct regular audits on our critical processes such as schedule follow-up (both new and existing) to ensure that change is not only achieved but maintained.

Duties

Safety
- maintain green walkways clear at all times
- follow check list (forklift)

Schedule
- attainability, report delays in the schedule to the supervisor
- report when schedule is not being followed
- review schedule before shift starts to identify resources needed, such as space, raw material, and help if needed

Space
- provide space for finish goods by placing them in the designated
- report to the supervisor if the designated area is full

Raw material
- bring raw material to the area for the next work order (s)
- place the balance on the designated area

Finish goods
- look for handling damage
- place material that needs to be reworked on the QC hold area
- notify supervisor if there is no more space in the QC hold area

Abnormalities
- report machine/material/safety or any other abnormality to the supervisor

Scrap
- assure scrap is properly marked and approved
- move scrap to designated area

Consumption
- review consumption log and avoid moving material if the previous batch is not close
- report abnormalities to the supervisor

- support lean activities

- Other activities as needed such as cross training

Safety
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this position will be accountable for are:
- Receiving and verifying all incoming materials for the plant *
- Operating and maintaining a lift truck as required *
- Checking finished goods for accuracy of labels *
- Stocking production lines with empty packaging *
- Remove full totes from production line as required *
- Loading and unloading of trucks as required *
- Identify and inform Supervisor of any product, process or quality problems, equipment failure, or health and safety concerns as applicable.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures.
- Maintain area housekeeping in accordance with 5S.
- Other duties assigned as required.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of Material Handling experience in a Manufacturing environment is required.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to receive forklift and propane handling certification is required.
- Ability to receive yard dog certification is required.
