About the Whirlwinds Swim Team
The Whirlwinds program includes a pre-season, main season (competing within DSSL with six meets plus a championship meet), post-season, and a developmental team. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic coaches to help our swimmers grow in skill, confidence, and team spirit!
This seasonal position runs from mid-April through mid-November, with an expected commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week, depending on the season. Additional hours may be available.
What We’re Looking For
Our swimmers range from beginners to competitive athletes, and we are seeking a motivated, knowledgeable, and positive coaches who can provide consistency and leadership to help each swimmer succeed. The ideal candidates have a growth mindset and are continuously looking for ways to improve the Whirlwinds program.
Responsibilities
- Implement structured practices focusing on stroke technique, endurance, speed, and race strategy.
- Foster a fun, inclusive, and motivating team environment for swimmers of all skill levels.
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, and fellow coaches to ensure a positive team culture.
- Attend team-building events, spirit activities, practices, meets, and the end-of-season banquet.
Qualifications
- Experience contributing to a positive team culture.
- Background in competitive swimming and stroke mechanics.
- Strong communication skills.
- Prior coaching experience preferred.
- Lifeguard certification highly preferred (in-house training available).
- Availability during mornings, evenings and weekends is required. (Schedule varies based on the time of year.)
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- After school
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- Weekends as needed
