Job Summary :
The Log Yard Laborer position involves a variety of duties to ensure the log yard is operating consistently and efficiently. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to work all shifts and pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test. Successful candidates must be a good team player and hard worker.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Frequent climbing of log decks
- Applying sprinkler pipe on log decks during summer months
- Daily monitoring of sprinklers to ensure they are working properly
- Removing pipe from decks as they are being used
- Metal detecting logs in scale bays
- Operating water truck in summer months while being aware of the surrounding heavy equipment
- Occasionally operating front end loader moving chip and bark piles
- Other duties as assigned

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Employees must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
