Job Summary:
The Maintenance Manager plans and leads the daily activities of the Maintenance Department in the areas of Safety, Quality, and Maintenance. This individual oversees the installation, repair and upkeep of Woodgrain property, including machines, mechanical systems, buildings and other structures. This requires both a focus on leadership as well as the full utilization of information, procedures and methods to positively impact the materials, machines, internal and external customers of the facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safety
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all employees in the manufacturing facility.
- Identify areas where safety issues could arise and take measures to proactively address the concerns.
- Participate in weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual safety and environmental audits.
- Actively participate on the plant’s Safety Committee.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (OSHA, DEQ, EPA, etc.) including all necessary documentation.
- Continuous Improvement
- Actively pursue measures to reduce downtime on production equipment
- Identify opportunities and take measures to reduce waste and eliminate manufacturing issues.
- Coordinate initiatives to reduce operating costs to include root cause analysis.
- Attend workshops to enhance industry knowledge and the capabilities of the plant.
- Organization / Task Management
- Completes tasks in a timely and organized fashion.
- Work with the maintenance staff to develop a Reliability Based program to proactively address equipment issues.
- Plan, schedule and monitor the timely completion of maintenance work orders.
- Manage the critical spare parts inventory.
- Team Management
- Actively supervise maintenance employees in the everyday coordination, execution and planning of maintenance efforts.
- Instill a TEAM concept in the workplace.
- Train and develop highly effective employees, facilitate changes in working conditions and equipment, conduct employee hiring, discipline, and termination.
- Communication and Conduct
- Maintain a good working relationship with the plant management, supervisory staff and hourly employees.
- Continually communicate in a positive manner.
- Conduct oneself in a manner that is reflective of the Company's policies.
- Coordinate with Corporate Engineering on the planning, implementation, and installation of capital projects.
- Requirements:
- 5 years of maintenance leadership experience; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
- Experience in Project Management.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing process.
- Demonstrated project management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated skills in the areas of electrical, PLC, and computer-controlled equipment.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization
- Ability to relate and positively interact with team members.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated skills in planning, implementing, negotiating, monitoring, and reporting.
- Ability to think critically; considering the big picture of operation.

- Knowledge of computerized maintenance and inventory control systems processes in SAP, or similar ERP.

Physical Demands: The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
