Work Environment: Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Job Summary:
The Pellet Mill Operator is responsible for overseeing machines that compress wood by-products into a pellet.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor and improve the output and performance of the Pellet Mill.
- Control the process of adding raw materials, additives and binders.
- Identify and troubleshoot operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.
- Conduct regular quality checks on pellets to ensure they meet client specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on the Pellet Mill to ensure it’s efficient performance.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area.
- Train others to safely and efficiently operate the Pellet Mill.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic mechanical abilities.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Travel:
This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
