Program Overview Workforce Development, Community Programs
The Workforce Development Team implements thoughtfully designed programs that include a variety of interventions to prepare jobseekers for employment, including; assessments, skills training, employment counselling, holistic case coordination, job search assistance, incentives and supports, and long-term follow-up. The Workforce Development Team serves targeted employers to meet their hiring needs with qualified and well-prepared candidates who experience barriers to employment and/or who are from traditionally underrepresented groups. WoodGreen strives to be a leading innovator in workforce development through applied research, program design and evaluation across the sector.
What You Will Do
- Oversee a newly formed portfolio of youth-centred employment-related programs at WoodGreen with the objective of creating the most positive client experience and outcomes through seamless service delivery across multiple funded programs.
- Leverage opportunities, partnerships, front line service delivery, client support, and other resources to optimize youth training and employment outcomes.
- Carry out project management responsibilities involving planning and supervising multiple projects, managing a team of front-line professionals, performance tracking, reporting, and performance management.
- Develop and implement operating procedures, protocols, and policies to achieve program objectives and goals while creating a welcoming and respectful environment for clients.
- Support relationships with existing employers to advance program operational outcomes and identify and develop new employer relationships to meet the changing needs of client group.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, including the WoodGreen Youth Team, Newcomer Services and Integrated Employment Services to advance program operational outcomes, conduct outreach and identify potential new operational partners.
- Develop and implement marketing and outreach activities to promote programs within the community to meet service outcomes for both client intake and employment outcomes.
- Ensures the successful management and delivery of multiple projects to meet all objectives and targets.
- Leads project teams and delivers specific project outcomes. Prepares workplans, supervise front-line staff, coordinates resources, implements project activities, fulfils data and documentation requirements, resolves issues, evaluates and improves performance, etc.
- Sources and allocates resources needed to deliver projects successfully including staff and volunteers, materials and supplies, equipment and tools, purchases of services from vendors and contributions from employers and community partners.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve excellence in employer engagement. Contributes to development of a common employer engagement model. Coordinates with the WoodGreen Foundation, Employment Services and other teams that must effectively manage employer relationships to optimize the employer experience and positive client outcomes.
- Builds and manages strong, healthy and productive relationships with vendors and partners involved in Workforce Development projects.
- Collaborates with functional area leaders (e.g. training and assessments, mentorship, volunteer management, marketing, research/evaluation, etc.) to obtain resources, strategize/plan projects, create a positive and smoothly run work environment for staff, develop and innovate best practices, etc.
- Contributes to funding applications as requested by Senior Manager, with activities such as project/service ideation, establishing objectives, developing strategies and plans, designing new programs, creating budgets and preparing written submissions.
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor s degree in human resources, Project Management, Social Services and/or a related field.
- 3 years work experience in the Employment Ontario Employment Services program in a leadership role or comparable, with high levels of skill in all aspects of service delivery and systems.
- 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably within a unionized/community services sector.
- Lived experience and/or work experience with youth of African descent, newcomer youth and/or other vulnerable youth populations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, ideally in a client-focused, service delivery environment, with attainment of target outcomes.
- Experienced leading a team with varying roles, skills and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to implement policies, procedures and business systems to meet operational outcomes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a track record of effectively managing and mediating conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with employers, community partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and decision making skills.
- Experience with data management, with the ability to monitor data quality, analyze data through reporting, and interpret the result to inform program development recommendations.
- A solid understanding of trends, issues and services within the career and employment sector, with knowledge of strategies to integrate vulnerable population in the labour market.
