Position Details
JOB SUMMARY : The teacher has the responsibility for using the Michigan Curriculum
Frameworks, Standards and Benchmarks, and high school Content Expectations to teach daily lessons to students at the secondary level.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS :
EX (Mathematics) or EQ (Mathematics – Middle Grades & High School) endorsement required.
Valid Michigan teaching certificate 6-12.
Five years teaching experience preferred.
Experience working with students in groups and individually.
Competency in using assessments as the basis for instruction.
Ability to analyze and clearly communicate assessment results and learning plans, in written and oral form, to professionals and parents.
Ability to cooperatively participate in Student Support Teams, team evaluation, and IEP’s.
Ability to complete and maintain required records, forms, and reports in a professional and timely manner.
Ability to be flexible, to work independently, and to contribute as a member of a team.
Ability to prioritize tasks, allocate time, and maintain schedule flexibility.
Ability to use computer applications.
Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate behavior plans for use in general and special education settings.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to) :
Design learning activities that relate mathematics to the physical world and to career pathways.
Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities, and to use a variety of instructional activities.
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and / or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.
Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports and report cards.
Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop professional goals for evaluation in conformance with district guidelines.
Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress on a regular basis using a variety of means.
Participate in faculty and / or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
Use assessment to guide instruction and measure progress.
