We are recruiting outstanding individuals to join our innovative residential and program for male adolescents in early recovery from substance use disorder. Our holistic approach integrates recovery education, academic support, clinical engagement, recreation, and family involvement. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Recovery and Recreation Specialist to join our team and make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of residents, with a focus on mental health and recovery.
- Foster a supportive, recovery-focused environment, promoting positive behaviors.
- Facilitate individual and group recovery sessions to encourage personal growth.
- Actively assist with Woodhaven Academy, supporting residents' educational goals.
- Escort and supervise off-site activities, including recreation, AA/NA meetings, and appointments.
- Administer urinalysis, conduct room and personal audits, and disburse medications, maintaining accurate records.
- Assist with residents' responsibilities, including food service, transportation, and vehicle maintenance.
- Communicate regularly with families, clinicians, and other team members regarding residents’ progress.
- Develop and implement personalized recovery plans, monitoring progress over time.
- Maintain detailed documentation and records of resident interactions and development.
- Support the Executive Director in developing transition plans for residents, including education, employment, and living arrangements.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency support as needed.
- Organize on-site and off-site recreational activities that promote recovery and engagement.
- Plan and coordinate family days, special events, and holiday celebrations in alignment with recovery goals.
- Maintain recreational equipment and materials, ensuring safety and usability.
- Work alongside Certified Recovery Specialists to integrate recreation into individualized recovery plans.
- Develop and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and donors to support recreational programming.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or leadership team.
Qualifications
- Experience working with adolescents in recovery, mental health, or residential treatment settings preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Ability to maintain structure, accountability, and compassion in a recovery-based environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to transport residents to appointments and activities.
- CPR, First Aid, or other relevant certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Commitment to personal and professional growth, including participation in training and development opportunities.
