What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Team Coach position at Woodlake Community Association?
The Woodlake Hurricanes Swim Team is seeking an Assistant Coach to lead the competitive swimming program for the Woodlake Community Association. This is a part-time job beginning in late May 2025 and going through the end of the Champs swim meet in late July 2025. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach to teach, coach, and supervise swimmers during all swim practices and swim meets.
Specific job responsibilities and expectations include :
- A current lifeguard certification including CPR, AED and first aid is required. Reimbursement for the course is available.
- Competitive swimming experience is desired.
- Teach proper technique of strokes, turns and starts, including teaching in the water as needed.
- Execute practices developed by the Head Coach or develop practices as instructed.
- Attend all morning practices, Tropical Storm (developmental program), evening practices as assigned, and all swim meets including Champs. Arrive early for setup and ensure proper cleanup after each practice.
- Supervise swimmers at all times to ensure swimmer safety and serve as a positive role model for all swimmers.
- Communicate as necessary with parents and other Coaches regarding assignments, swimmer progress, and upcoming events.
- Help swimmers at meets to line up, provide encouragement and feedback at swim meets.
- Develop team spirit and encourage good sportsmanship.
- Attend and participate in end of season awards banquet, swim team social events, and swim coaches' and team meetings.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach and swim team board.
