What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Team Head Coach 2025 position at Woodlake Community Association?
The primary purpose of the Swim Team Head Coach is to create a safe, fun and motivating, yet competitive environment for swimmers. This position leads all aspects of the competitive swimming and Tropical Storm development programs, including teaching, administration, deck coaching, and coaching of swim meets. Candidates must have a strong knowledge and passion for swimming and helping young athletes succeed. Requirements include:
- Must be available Monday - Friday, mid-May through mid-July for evening practices (before school is over and 3 nights per week after school is out), morning practices starting June 2nd, and evening swim meets and Champs.
- A current lifeguard certification including CPR, AED and first aid is required. A copy of a current certification must be provided prior to the first day of practice.
- Plan and execute appropriate training plans for swimmers divided by age groups. Practices should include time with coaches in the water instructing swimmers as needed.
- Mentor, develop, and inspire assistant coaches and senior swimmers.
- Teach proper technique of strokes, turns and starts.
- Manage and lead the Assistant and Junior Coaches in the implementation and development of Tropical Storm to ensure an adequate learn to swim program in a fun, motivating and safe environment.
- Communicate as necessary with the Board, parents, and other coaches regarding the swim team program, assignments, swimmer progress, and upcoming events.
- Attend league and team meetings/trainings, board meetings as requested, parent meetings, and team activities.
- Communicate with swimmers on topics including, but not limited to, reasons for disqualifications, feedback to improve swimming technique, behavior concerns.
- Prepare meet entries for individuals and relays.
- Demonstrate professionalism and maturity with swimmers between the ages of 4 and 18.
- Foster an environment of good sportsmanship and respect.
- Other duties as assigned.
