Position: Director of Communications
Job Description:
Woodlake United Methodist Church is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Communications to lead our communications team. The Director of Communications will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and execution of all communications functions to all Woodlake UMC stakeholders (staff, lay leaders, members and general public.)
Responsibilities:
- Create a brand/marketing/public relations strategy that effectively utilizes multiple communication channels including advertising, online medias and community partners
- Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to broaden awareness of key activities
- Recruit and manage a communications support team, including volunteer talent
- Proactively identify challenges and emerging issues and implement appropriate strategies to address them
- Collaborate with executive leadership on all church-wide functions and events
- Meet regularly with all ministry areas to facilitate communication of events and ministries
- Produce and distribute marketing and communications assets
- Update and manage church website
- Create and post accurate and timely content on church social media feeds
- Ensure consistency and alignment with the Woodlake UMC brand across all ministry areas
- Manage Communications budget
- Lead media interactions
- Prepare talking points, speeches, presentations and other supporting material, as needed
- Provide accurate and timely graphics for all Woodlake UMC ministries, based on coordination with those ministries
- Update style guide as needed, create and modify templates according to guide
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field preferred.
- 5 years experience in communications role
- Experience managing and executing multi-channel communication strategies
- Web design, graphic design and social media management experience
- Managerial experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Trello or other project management programs, Adobe Creative Suite and online media platforms
- Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to share and communicate ideas across all levels of organization
- Demonstrated project managment, strategic thinking and prioritization skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 per year
