Job Description
SUMMARY
Assists students and supervises students conduct on assigned middle school or high school campus to ensure a safe environment for students and visitors.
EXAMPLE OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Monitors a high school campus, parking lots, adjacent areas and other facilities to discourage loitering, harassment, improper behavior, property damage and theft. Discourages injurious weapons and objects being brought on campus and discourages consumption of alcohol, illegal drug use and other improper conduct on campus.
- Monitors campus parking and traffic regulations.
- Encourages loitering students to return to class.
- Encourages non-students to leave the school premises.
- Prepares reports and maintains records regarding any problems or occurrences at school site.
- Observes and controls behavior of students according to approved procedures. Assists in maintaining order among students on the school grounds during breaks and lunch periods and in the cafeteria.
- Interacts with other agencies, e.g. law enforcement, community professionals, etc., for the purpose of communicating and/or receiving information regarding situations that may affect safety within the school environment.
- Administers first aid for the purpose of providing emergency care.
- Monitors assigned area to assist students and to resolve minor problems.
- Assists student helpers in cafeteria by providing work direction and guidance.
- Directs movement of students in an orderly manner.
- Prepares documentation for the purposes of providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Assists students in developing and observing acceptable rules of conduct.
- Maintains and coordinates the work schedules of site’s Campus Safety Coordinators.
- Performs other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.

Minimum qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma required as demonstrated by that level of reading and writing skills required.
- College level course work in community justice or equivalent and 2 years experience working with at-risk juveniles.
- Additional formal training in law enforcement is required.
- Experience working with children in structured or unstructured settings is required.
Licenses and Certificates:
- TB Test clearance
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance
- CPR and First Aid certification
