Woodland Montessori School has two openings for a School Aide/Assistant Care Aide for approximately 25-30 hours per week. The aide position provides essential support to teachers and students across various classrooms, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. This role involves assisting with lunchtime supervision and playground duty, facilitating smooth transitions between activities, performing light cleaning tasks, and supporting the aftercare program. The ideal candidate is adaptable, compassionate, and committed to fostering a positive school experience for all students . Our school caters to children aged 2-6 years old, from pre-kindergarten to kindergarten, and currently enrolls 67 students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Float between classrooms to assist teachers with daily activities, promoting a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Lunchtime Supervision: Oversee students during lunch, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and following school behavior expectations.
  • Playground Duty: Supervise students during recess, ensuring their safety and encouraging positive social interactions.
  • Transitions: Assist with transitions between classes and activities, helping students to stay organized and on task.
  • Light Cleaning: Perform light cleaning duties in classrooms and common areas to maintain a tidy and welcoming environment.
  • Student Support: Provide assistance to individual students as needed, fostering their social and emotional well-being.
  • Aftercare Duties: Supervise and engage students in aftercare programs, facilitating activities that promote learning and social skills. Ensure a safe and nurturing environment until parents or guardians arrive.
  • Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with teachers and staff to address any student needs or concerns.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies and follow school protocols to ensure student safety.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in childcare is preffered.
  • Must complete all state regulations for a Montana Child Care Provider and become current on the Montana Early Childhood Project Website and maintain annual continuing education hours (16 hours per year). (There is 6 required online courses that must be completed within your first 120 days).
  • You will need to fingerprint and pass FBI background check.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop and care for children.
  • Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must have Current TDAP & MMR Vaccinations
  • Must be/get CPR certified.
  • Must have proof of High School Diploma or equivalent of GED
  • Hours can vary from 5-8 hour shift.
  • Hours of operation are 7:25a-5:30p. Monday-Friday, No weekends.

Benefits

  • Reimbursement of CPR Costs after 90 days. WMS will pay for recertification after one year of employment.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)- During the school year- two paid sick days. During Summer- one week paid vacation after a year (dependent on work schedule). For each subsequent year of employment, you will receive one additional day of sick during the school year and one additional vacation day for summer.
  • 3% matching retirement contribution to a Simple IRA from day ninety-one (91) (employee must earn a minimum $5,000.00 in the tax year)
  • Health insurance reimbursement of up to $150 per month (available for FT employees of 30 hours.) Must show proof of health premium.
  • Tuition discount for enrolled staff children (based on schedule & availability). Enrollment for staff children is not guaranteed.
  • Enrolled Staff children, are offered free child care before/after school during working hours (based on schedule & availability)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
