The $77,969 annual starting pay is structured to be competitive and may extend up to $85,000 reflecting our commitment to offering competitive compensation to qualified candidates.

YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively manage direct reports and indirectly oversee all front-line Leads, Associates, and Attendants. Ensure that acceptable levels of performance are maintained through positive motivation and coaching of employees.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust staffing for a large department with both temporary and regular employees. Work alongside People & Culture for adherence to legal and / or new zoo policy guidelines.
  • Make recommendations for improvement based on needs of the business and serve as a voice for employees.
  • Work closely with other zoo departments to plan, coordinate, implement, promote, and evaluate a variety of guest experience projects and operations.
  • Lead various teams in developing safe and efficient processing of guests on large attendance days and special events. Coordinate onsite member services with the Membership team and help suggest and evaluate improvements to the membership program.
  • Responsibly administer the annual budget for Admissions and other related departments and maintain strict fiscal control over departmental expenditures.
  • Assist the Customer Service Director in developing and managing the Admissions annual budget.
  • Contract and manage third-party (non-presence) vendors and their annual contracts and operations
  • Establish annual goals and standards of performance for fiscal and programmatic operations relating to Admissions and oversee the development of ongoing financial and operating / performance reports.
  • Assist senior leadership with development and implementation of long-range strategic priorities and goals for Admissions and effectively communicate the vision.
  • Ensure clear communications and maintain good relationships with and across departments in order to support overall organizational goals.
  • Participate on various special project and charter teams as a departmental representative.
  • Actively participate in ongoing elements of increasing guest safety and security.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to various audiences in order to promote and / or provide information about the zoo.
  • Work and interact with visitors for continuous evaluation of overall guest experience picture to reinforce customer service standards across the zoo.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
  • Experience with point-of-sale software programs.
  • Washington State Driver's License.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Three (3) or more years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing people and functional areas / departments in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong listening skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Windows and Office tools (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), database management software packages, and internet research.
  • Ability to read, interpret, explain, and enforce policies to staff, and the general public in a clear and confident manner.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and processes.
  • Successful applicants must live and work in Washington State to perform this role.
