WOODLAND POND CONFORMANCE STATEMENT

POSITION SUMMARY The IL Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing all programs, events and activities for Independent Living residents. This position supports resident’s physical, social, spiritual, and intellectual activity needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*CF indicates Critical Function)
· Is primarily responsible for all activity, event, resident meeting, and resident trip planning for Independent Living (*CF). This must be approached with vision, flexibility, and determination.
· Uses sophistication, cultural demands, intellectual desires of the residents as motivators, invigorating independent perspectives and a need for continued independence among residents.
· Organizes and leads all group activities and events (*CF)
· Actively manages a program that seeks out volunteers, outside vendors & instructors for different types of programming
· Facilitates the development of new programming each quarter of the year. Offerings need to be kept current and in line with resident demands.
· Regularly seeks resident suggestions and recommendations using electronic surveys and other means
· Promotes & advertises programs via paper notices, displays, media platforms, etc.
· Ensures that all compliance requirements and Invited Speaker policy requirements are consistently met (CF*)
· Creation and publication of the monthly Independent Living Calendar and Newsletter (*CF)
· Conducts monthly Activity & Trip Meetings with resident representatives and interest groups. Meets monthly with the Resident’s Council to ensure open dialogue (*CF)
· Collaborate with Fitness Coordinator, Director of Resident Wellbeing, Dining Services, Health Center Activities Department, etc. to develop programs for residents (*CF)
· Responsible for communicating activity offerings on all communication platforms (email, Connected Living, the portal, the newsletter, the Chanticleer, etc).
· Completes all required training and in-services
· All other duties as assigned
GENERAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Maintains high standards for work areas, attitude and appearance
· Understands that honesty and ethics are essential in the performance of duties
· Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide services to and communicate with primarily elderly population
· Has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
· Ability to create newsletters, write articles, create calendars and notices and other activity related materials, using standard word processing and publishing software.
· Responds appropriately to questions and suggestions from managers, residents, staff, and the general public
· Remains calm in all types of situations, including emergencies
· Ability to work a flexible schedule due to resident and staff requests and/or special events, including additional hours and occasional evening and weekend hours
· Maintains predictable and reliable attendance
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associates degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or training
2. Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, especially on email.
4. Has demonstrated knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages, especially the elderly or geriatric population
Salary : $56,024 - $66,024
