Position Summary
The Lead Security Officer is responsible for protecting Woodland Pond property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. This position is responsible for the training of all new security staff and maintaining the security staff schedule. Under the advisement of the Directors of CCS and EVS, provides direction and oversight to the security and night shift EVS staff during their scheduled shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*CF indicates Critical Function)
- Performs all standard security officer duties. Responds to resident emergencies, as needed. Ensures the safety of residents, staff and contractors at all times (*CF)
- Schedules other security officers to cover required shifts and oversees work activity during shift (*CF)
- Trains new security officers or other personnel. Provides on-going direction and makes recommendations for additional training opportunities and/or progressive counseling (*CF)
- Provides physical protection for personnel and company property in accordance with applicable policy and procedure, codes and regulations
- Ensures Security Teams shift priorities are followed based on policies and procedures
- Checks doors and windows of building to ensure they are tightly closed and locked; notes in daily report any unlocked doors/windows
- Responds to alarms and dispatched calls; decides what actions to take based on situation, facts known and position limitations (*CF)
- Supervises and directs EVS Staff during the overnight shift as directed by the Director of EVS (*CF)
- Communicates clearly and effectively with management, staff, residents, partners, and vendors
- Carries out the pre-determined action-planning emergencies such as an accident, fire and illness/death
- Assists with the administration of the operation of all security related systems: access control, badges, pagers and radios
- Performs pre-shift checks to ensure that Security Team members assigned to a shift meet all Woodland Pond Grooming and Uniform Standards
- Reviews utilization and maintenance of security equipment on site on a regular basis
- Maintains and recommends changes or improvements in security software
- Recommends improvements to physical security and/or department functions to the site Security Supervisor
- Remains keenly alert at all times to surroundings; notifies all employees and other team members of possible threats or situations requiring immediate attention
- Communicates emergencies through ALL Woodland Pond Emergency Notification Systems in a calm and efficient manner (*CF)
- Prioritizes situational urgency in order to make quick and concise decisions
- Maintains confidentiality at all times
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma, or HSE with two years of similar experience, or
- Excellent customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- Ability to work calmly in a high stress environment while assisting with multiple resident and employee requests.
- Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating by telephone and in person with individuals of all ages, especially the geriatric population
