The Assistant Principal will work closely with the principal, staff, students, and families to ensure academic and extracurricular success.
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington Administrator Certificate.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Teaching experience at the middle school level preferred.
- Prior school administrative experience required, with middle school leadership preferred (2 Years).
- Strong instructional leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Special Education, MTSS, and Washington State Learning Standards.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Experience with staff evaluations and professional development.
- Ability to use technology effectively for communication, planning, and instruction.
- Spanish-speaking ability is desirable but not required.
Student Success and School Culture
- Oversee student discipline, including in-school suspension (ISS), tardy interventions, and behavior management.
- Lead Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiatives.
- Analyze behavior data and develop long-term strategies for student success.
- Collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies to support student well-being.
- Monitor student attendance and coordinate interventions to improve engagement.
- Support student-athletes in maintaining academic and behavioral expectations.
- Organize and lead community and other family engagement activities.
- Foster positive relationships with families and community stakeholders.
Instructional Leadership and Assessment
- Support instructional coaching and professional development for teachers.
- Assist in evaluating staff performance, providing feedback, and fostering professional growth.
- Monitor reading intervention programs and oversee iReady data collection.
- Assist in ensuring instructional fidelity and infrastructure.
- Coordinate state testing, including training, scheduling, and accommodations for IEP/504 students.
- Oversee district assessments and ensure compliance with state reporting requirements.
Operations, Safety, and Extracurricular Oversight
- Oversee athletic eligibility, supervision, and coordination of middle school sports programs.
- Collaborate with coaches, athletic directors, and community partners to enhance extracurricular offerings.
- Ensure a safe and organized environment for athletic events, including transportation and facility usage.
- Supervise school safety protocols, including emergency drills and crisis response plans.
- Manage facility requests and oversee summer building maintenance.
- Coordinate locker assignments and student handbook updates.
- Oversee lunch supervision, paraeducator training, and duty schedules.
- Address transportation and bus-related concerns.
- Develop and implement special schedules for testing, assemblies, and school events.
- Moderate to loud noise levels, typical of a middle school setting
- Interaction with students, staff, and families in a dynamic school environment
