What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant/Technician position at Woodland Veterinary Hospital?
We are a small animal, 2 doctor veterinary practice in Woodland, Washington. Seeking an experienced, reliable, and motivated Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Technician.

Patient care and customer service are of utmost importance to every member of our team. Accuracy and attention to detail are important skills that every team member must possess. This position will entail 30-40 hours per week for full time with benefits eligibility. This would include one Saturday per month (on occasion). We are a paper light practice so computer skills are a must. It will also require teamwork, professional customer service, and the ability to communicate professionally with clients as well as the veterinary team that you work with. Knowledge of the AviMark software program is a plus.
At least one year veterinary clinic experience preferred.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Ability to hold for and take x-rays
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Monitor animals during recovery from surgery or illness
- Clean and maintain equipment and work areas
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
Experience:
- Previous experience working as a veterinary assistant/technician (1 year minimum required)
- Knowledge of animal behavior, anatomy, and common medical conditions
- Familiarity with veterinary equipment and tools
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion (Prior education in fear free preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
