Job Summary: Chemotherapy Infusion Scheduler
Hours: Monday-Friday - 8am-5pm
Position Overview: The Chemotherapy Infusion Scheduler plays a crucial role in the oncology department, ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient chemotherapy treatments. This position involves coordinating with healthcare providers, patients, and other administrative staff to manage the scheduling of chemotherapy sessions and related appointments. The scheduler must maintain high levels of organization, communication, and empathy to support patients through their treatment journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Appointment Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule chemotherapy infusion appointments, follow-up visits, and any necessary pre-treatment tests or consultations. Ensure optimal scheduling to minimize patient wait times and maximize resource utilization.
- Patient Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding their chemotherapy schedules. Provide clear and compassionate communication about appointment details, changes, and any preparatory instructions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to confirm treatment plans and schedules. Ensure that all parties are informed of any changes or special requirements.
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient schedules, treatment plans, and any relevant medical information. Ensure compliance with all privacy regulations and organizational policies.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any scheduling conflicts or issues that may arise. This includes coordinating with other departments and adjusting schedules as necessary to accommodate patient needs and departmental resources.
- Technology Utilization: Utilize scheduling software and electronic health records (EHR) systems to manage appointments and patient information efficiently. Stay updated on any new software or system updates.
- Patient Support: Provide additional support to patients by answering questions, offering reassurance, and directing them to appropriate resources for additional assistance or information.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical scheduling or administrative role, preferably in oncology or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on empathy and patient care.
- Proficiency in using scheduling software and electronic health records.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
