Job Title: Part-time Driver/Transportation
Department: Transportation
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Basic Purpose: This is a responsible position that involves driving residents to and from various locations, while assisting residents to and from or in and out of Woodlands’ vehicles.
Job Summary: Responsible for transporting residents to and from physician visits and other various activities (i.e. Pick up physician’s orders, etc.). Assist residents into and out of the Woodlands’ vehicle. Maintain a systematic method of resident appointments.
Performs other appropriate related and unrelated assigned duties.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid West Virginia driver's license
Experience: 3 years driving experience, prefer experience with 15 passenger bus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport residents to and from physician visits and other various activities (i.e. Pick up physician’s orders, etc.).
- Assist residents into and out of the Woodlands’ vehicle.
- Assist residents in a wheelchair from Woodlands vehicle to waiting room of medical facility and back to vehicle after appointment, if requested
- Maintain a systematic method of resident appointments.
- Ensure the safety and well- being of all residents while operating the Woodlands’ vehicles.
- Be punctual arriving and picking up residents
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Participates as needed in special projects
- Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services to them. Interact with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment
- Fully understand all aspects of residents' rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Responsible for promptly reporting to the charge nurse or administrative staff incidents or evidence of resident abuse or violation of residents' rights
- Assist in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment; report environmental deficiencies to maintenance such as lighting or equipment problems
- Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with the resident, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors
- Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated, and proper disposal of soiled materials
- Support an atmosphere, which promotes a homelike environment
- Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area or to requests from residents, visitors, other personnel, etc. within given time frames and within established policy
- Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances
- Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Requires moderate physical effort; standing, grasping, balancing, carrying, bending, lifting, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending during eight (8) hour shift
- Occasional reaching above the head
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Level II Exposure to blood borne pathogens
- Work area is generally well lit and ventilated
- Work location varies within Woodlands Retirement Community
- May be required to work additional hours as dictated by the workload and staffing, including a couple of evenings and weekends each month
