Assistant Teacher Expectations
General Expectations are as follows but not limited to:
· Assist teachers in their daily activities;
· In teachers’ absence be able to run the daily lesson plan;
· Closely follow Licensing & GSRP regulations;
· Open/Close classroom;
· Communicate with teacher in regards to lesson plans;
· Maintain a safe and orderly environment for all staff and children;
· Assist in completing the end of the day checklist to ensure classroom is maintain to health department, licensing, & GSRP standard;
· Communicate with staff and parents;
· Attend meetings are required;
· Maintain confidentiality and discretion;
· Create and monitor all classroom supplies- Request as needed;
· Properly punch in and out;
· Clean gym and bathrooms daily (responsibility shared by everyone);
· Ensure you are up to date on trainings needed for your position.
Health and Safety Issues
· Protects all children from physical punishment or verbal abuse by anyone in any program activity, and immediately reports any such incident to the center director or person in charge;
· Assists calmly in evacuation of the building in an emergency and in practice drills, and is able to respond to any emergency;
Interactions with Parents
· Maintains a relationship with all your parents when they arrive/depart;
· Treats all parents with RESPECT;
· Encourages all parents to attend activities;
· Brings any feedback from the parents whether good or bad back to the Director;
· Makes sure all child records are up to date and all the necessary items are located in their files.
Interactions with Staff
· Maintains a friendly relationship with staff;
· Cooperates with all other professional staff that comes into the building or outside of the building at meetings that you may attend.
General /Professionalism (including appearance)
· Attends all training opportunities and staff meetings as provided and scheduled;
· Performs all other tasks deemed necessary by the Center Director;
· Meets deadlines in completing all tasks;
· Remains current in state requirements required by law- First Aid, CPR, training hours;
· Supports Woodlawn Preschool;
· Approaches problems in a constructive fashion, taking initiative to correct problems whenever possible, using NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct as a guide;
· Contributes ideas in helping Woodlawn grow and better service our children and families;
· Develops an attractive and engaging environment for the front of the office;
· Maintains a clean environment for the front office;
· Personal dress should be business casual and appropriate.

Woodlawn Preschool expect the best of behaviors. Foul language will not be tolerated. You are the face the children see and interact with on a regular basis is it #1 priority that you represent yourself accordingly. Any issues that arise please bring to the director.
