The Fraternal Accounting / Project Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the division’s management team, as well as, processing various accounts and accounting functions for WoodmenLife’s Chapters, Fraternal Corporations, and Jurisdictions.  Support Division goals and objectives by managing special projects and programs as they are approved and assigned.    This in an in-office position.   WoodmenLife is one of the best places to work in Omaha with over 130 years of service. Apply today to learn more!  We are looking for someone to:     Maintains record of chapter inventory. Accurately and timely calculates and processes various debits/credits for member, chapter, jurisdiction, and fraternal corporation. Processes appropriations including promotional items, supplies, shipping charges, projects, mortgage payments, and liability/property/medical insurance. Works closely with Tax Compliance Department to provide timely and accurate information to the Internal Revenue Service and resolve issues as needed. Works closely with Legal and Accounting Departments to make sure insurance is removed when the property is sold, and to calculate and/or obtain insurance premiums for the next year. Manages special project budgets by documenting expenses and monitoring budget to remain within limits. Processes and maintains chapter expense reports, Annual Regional Event reports, monthly distribution reports, Chapter activities/events, and Five Star statuses.  Reviews, analyzes, and complies annual/periodic financial reporting of chapters, jurisdictions, fraternal corporations. Verifies accuracy and completeness. Performs appropriate follow-up to investigate and resolve missing reports and inaccuracies. Assists Division management by coordinating, researching and completing special projects and programs as assigned.  Identifies, prioritizes and solves problems or conflicts in the integration of special projects and programs. Implements system(s) to identify gaps and make recommendations for improvements. Coordinates and provides analysis of procedures and workflow processes to ensure effectiveness of the projects. Assists in planning, developing, writing, and maintaining procedural documents, instructions, and functional specifications for new or modified processes. Performs required administrative activities such as coordinating travel plans, office activities, supply orders. Prepares routine and advanced correspondence including letters, memoranda, and reports as needed for Community Outreach Advisors, Sales Associates, and Home Office Associates in various departments, as necessary. Attends and participates in departmental and divisional meetings. Facilitates in-office and virtual training annually. Attends conferences/seminars related to the industry to research educational resources and opportunities to enhance knowledge of current projects and for personal growth and development. Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality in accordance with the expectations established by your supervisor and WoodmenLife policy.   Essential Job Skills    Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience. Knowledge of the insurance/financial/accounting services industry is strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft products and Internet Explorer. Strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel. Problem solving and analytical skills required. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to manage multiple project assignments, deadlines and changing priorities in a team environment. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be able to work independently with minimal intervention from the manager. Ability to exhibit negotiation, facilitation, and implementation of change skills. The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service. Ability to work in the home office (some remote work may be considered).
